The Chats Express made the long trip to Norfolk to play Wroxham on Saturday, and came back with a seventh consecutive win.

Wroxham have played more games than anyone else in the division and are in desperate need of a few wins if they are to avoid relegation.  They made the perfect start when Gordon gave them the lead after just three minutes, but that lead was to last just seven minutes.

Ten minutes in, Wroxham goalkeeper Juhasz completely missed Kieran McCann’s cross.  That led to a Lee Hales shot which was cleared off the line, but the ball was cleared only as far as Ade Yusuff who was brought down.  Penalty to Chatham, and as usual Yusuff’s spot kick was perfectly placed and we were level.

Both sides created a number of chances as the half went on.  Yusuff and Hales could both have put Chatham in the lead, and on 37 minutes Yusuff did just that.  The goal came from a Hales free kick, with Yusuff rising above the Wroxham defence to head it into the net.

So 2-1 to Chatham at half time, and by the time the second half was twelve minutes old it was 4-1.  On 54, Wroxham won a free kick deep inside their own half.  Unfortunately for them, that free kick went straight to Lee Hales who raced through to scored the third.  Three minutes later it was four and Yusuff had completed his hat trick.  This time McCann was the provider, playing the ball behind the Wroxham defence for Yusuff to place precisely into the bottom corner.

The game seemed to be over as a contest, and Wroxham appeared to have little to offer.  It was a bit of a surprise when they pulled a goal back on 70 minutes, but Chatham kept pushing forward and twice in the space of a minute Yusuff could have made it five.  But with eight minutes remaining Wroxham pulled another back with a well taken goal, and those eight remaining minutes were rather tense.

Chatham held on for the win though, their seventh in a row while Wroxham’s relegation worries deepen.
